November Update
Wednesday, 30th Nov 2011Head of Youth Development, Stephen Wright marks the report card
There are only two more weeks remaining of the youth programme this year, matches will re-commence again in February next year continuing through to June.
I have been pleased with the progress shown over the first period from all the young players at Dunfermline Athletic.
The U19s have been performing very well this season so far particularly making the step up from SFL to higher standard of the SPL.
Some of these players have been knocking on the 1st team door and have been training regularly with the senior squad. Kerr Young (18) Sean Byrne (18) and Ross Drummond (17) have all been on the bench for the 1st team recently. These players and others have been catching the eye of Jim and Gerry in recent bounce matches too.
At the younger ages groups Declan O'Kane (16) Lewis Spence (15) and Scott Gray (15) have all featured with the U19s. A special mention has to be made to Scott Mercer who has established his place with the U19 all season whilst still only 16 years old. Scott has been at Dunfermline Athletic since the age of 9 years old. It is great to see a local lad progressing well within our youth system.
The youth department was recently given a very kind donation from the family of Fred Windle who sadly passed away last month. Fred had been a Pars fan for many years and had attended most games during the last 7 years with his daughter Christine. Fred was given a lifetime pass from Dunfermline Athletic FC and latterly had a seat in the Centenary club box during games due to his illness. Fred wanted the young players at Dunfermline Athletic to benefit from the donation. Many thanks Fred.
