The last Pars league victory at Ibrox was in April 1972, almost 40 years ago. Jim Leishman scored the winning goal that day (as he never forgets to tell us), with the other goals coming from Ken Mackie, Kenny Thomson, plus an own goal from Sandy Jardine.

Dunfermline`s last league win over Rangers was in December 2003 when a Stevie Crawford goal and Vanoli own goal handed the Pars a rare 2-0 win. However the 12 matches since then have seen the Gers win ten and draw two. When these teams met, at East End Park on 24th September it was an easy 4-0 win for McCoists` men.
