Bring on the Rovers
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012Yorkshireman revelling at the prospects of a big crowd and Derby Day atmosphere.
Josh Falkingham feels that the resounding win over Montrose will set his new club up for their important Derby match against the Rovers on Saturday:-
"It was a good result coming into the game after a strong second half performance last Saturday. We had a bit of confidence about us and we knew that if we went about it with the right attitude then given the differences in league and difference in standards, we would get the result.
"We scored a goal with our first real attack and kicked on from there. We probably got a little bit sloppy throughout the game; myself and the midfield were giving possession away. Overall the gaffer was pleased and at the end of the day a good result that puts us in the next round of the cup.
"I have never really had a cup run since I came up to Scotland, it would be nice to experience that."
Josh claims that he is revelling in the opportunity given to him by Jim Jefferies to come to a big club, a big stadium and back in full time football. He describes himself as 'buzzing' and the player who turned 22 last Saturday feels that the new squad is beginning to gel. His parents and brother will be travelling north from Leeds to take in the famous Fife Derby:-
"It is going to be a big game; the Partick game was a bit of a setback but we have put two games out of the way that could have been stumbling blocks. I have heard of the rivalry between the two clubs and the sell out a couple of seasons ago. Hopefully the crowd can get behind us on Saturday and make East End Park rock."
One player his Leeds parents will possibly also recognise is Josh's new flatmate, Callum Morris. Callum signed for Dunfermline last weekend and made his debut against Montrose but since he came through the Newcastle United Academy the two will have met before in their younger years. Josh added:-
"I know Callum from the Academy days at Leeds, I played against him several times when he was at Newcastle. He did really well tonight but I am happier that we are now playing with each other rather than against, that is a blessing in disguise."
