Hubbie makes the match
Monday, 27th Aug 2012"I wasn't featuring at Blackpool. For me it is about games and it doesn't really matter where that is.
Stephen Husband's first goal in Scottish football was the very important winner at Airdrie on Saturday. Having hit the net twice while on loan to Stockport County this was his third senior goal. Playing down his own success he claimed that it was great for the boys to get the three points.
"I think we worked hard in a tough first half where we lost that goal. In the second half we played really well getting the ball down and passing it. That caused them all sorts of problems.
"The gaffer's half time grilling made a difference. He came in and said a few home truths; it was just what we needed. We got things sorted and came out in the second half playing how we ought to be playing."
The former Blackpool player scored just seven minutes from time. He described it:-
"It was a good ball in from Ryan that I just managed to get on the end of. That is what we didn't have last week and maybe if we had then maybe Partick wouldn't have won the game.
"Everyone wants to be scoring goals and playing midfield you like to get forward and create chances as well as score them. Hopefully that gives me a platform to go on and add to that goals tally."
Acknowledging that the Pars will be looked upon as the bigger team in the First Division the Kelty born player outlined what would be needed this season:-
"It will take good passing and good movement; the cutting edge to get the three points - it will not just be handed to us. There are teams like Raith, Livingston, Partick Thistle - you could name them all - they are all going to be tough games. No one is going to give you an easy game whether home or away."
Having been with a Championship club 21 year old Stephen somewhat surprisingly sees the move to Dunfermline as a 'step up' -
"I wasn't featuring at Blackpool. For me it is about games and it doesn't really matter where that is. I just want to play and it doesn't matter whether it is SFL or SPL - hopefully that will come. First team football is my priority and I think Dunfermline is the right club for me."
