Changes to the Board Announced
Wednesday, 15th Aug 2012Frank McConnell has retired after 13 years of service, Rodney Shearer is appointed as Vice Chairman
Frank McConnell has decided to retire from the Board at DAFC after serving for over 13 years.
Born and bred in Dunfermline, Frank has been a life-long supporter of the Pars and the Board and Club are immensely grateful for all of his efforts since he joined in 1999.
Chairman, John Yorkston commented:-
"It's been a pleasure and a privilege to have worked with Frank on the Board all this time. When I was appointed as Chairman, Frank was the first person I approached to join us on the board. He is a lovely guy and we thank him for his wonderful contribution over the years. Although he's resigned from the Board he'll still be a regular as my guest in the boardroom."
Frank McConnell replied:-
"I'm retiring after thirteen very happy years, there have been highs and lows but I'll remember above all the highs! It's certainly been a privilege to serve the Club."
In addition to Frank Mc'Connell's retirement, the Board has undergone further changes including the appointment of Rodney Shearer as Vice Chairman.
Rodney Shearer, who joined the Board in 2003 commented:-
"I have been a life-long supporter of Dunfermline Athletic and a director for just over 8 years. It is an honour to be asked by the Board to become the Vice Chairman. John and I will work closely together to meet the best interests of our supporters and Scottish football."
Additional Changes to the Board:
1. Christopher McBay and Craig McWhirter have been appointed as Senior Directors.
Christopher McBay was appointed to the Dunfermline Athletic Board in May 2010 and is Managing Director of Guitar Guitar Ltd, a retailer which supplies guitars and musical instruments throughout the UK and Europe.
Craig McWhirter was appointed to the Dunfermline Athletic Board in 2008 with a specific remit to strengthen the youth system. Craig runs a Dunfermline based software company.
2. Tracey Martin has become an Executive Director
Tracey has worked in sales and marketing for well over 20 years, receiving several awards for her work in Communications. The Pars have been in her blood from an early age as her father is a life-long supporter. Tracey has worked with the Club since 2002 and takes on shared responsibility for DAFC's commercial activities with Karen Masterton.
3. Keith Love has resigned his position in order to pursue his various business activities and the Board wish him the very best for the future.
The Club itself has also undergone some major organisational changes within its structure. A group on non-executive directors with diverse skills and experience will work in operational teams responsible for the implementation of strategy, budgetary management and best value procurement of services. Each of the operational teams will feature one or more Non-Executive Director and all will be supervised and reviewed by the Executive Board.
