Two more for Team JJ
Monday, 6th Aug 2012Craig Dargo and Ivan D'Angelo become Pars
New boys: left to right - Alex Whittle, Ivan D'Angelo, Craig Dargo, Andy Geggan, Stephen Jordan, Michal Hrivnak, Stephen Husband, Chris Kane, El Bakhtaoui Fayssal, Josh Falkingham.
Two more players have signed for Dunfermline Athletic today (Monday 6th August) and subject to registration duly extends Jim Jefferies options. Craig Dargo joins from Dumbarton and Ivan D'Angelo from Ascoli Calcio.
Pars fans have had glimpses of what the Italian 21 year old midfielder can offer in pre season friendlies at Berwick and Lochgelly. Jim Jefferies has signed Ivan until the end of the year, he commented:-
"It is just a short term contract to give him a chance to show us what he can do. I have worked with Craig Dargo before; at 34 he may be getting to the veteran stage but he has looked after himself and he still has something to offer in the First Division. He would have been playing there with Dumbarton anyway - he was a big help in getting them promoted.
"Craig will help John Potter (with the U20s) in a dual purpose role. If John is needed by us for the first team Craig will take his place and vice versa. We get the benefit of both worlds there but Craig will definitely be part of the first team squad. He will be useful to come off the bench but he may start some games depending on how the rest do. He will be handy because he knows the game, knows where to go in the box and he can help the younger players because he wants to get into that side of things as well. When you are running a tight ship to get somebody like Craig gives you a little bit more depth."
The Manager considers his new season signings might be complete for the moment but if somebody moved on or became target of another club then there could be further moves :-
"Like every team we will see what things are like at the end of August. If nothing else happens we will just get on with what we have got."
