Joe Cardle Post Forfar
Sunday, 29th Jul 2012" It was a disappointed dressing room after the game but it just didn't happen for us, especially in the second half.
Joe Cardle was very disappointed to leave Station Park on Saturday on the losing end of a 3-2 scoreline:-
"I thought we were cruising at half time at 2-1 up. I thought we'd go out in the second half and get another couple of goals but that wasn't to be. It was a disappointed dressing room after the game but it just didn't happen for us, especially in the second half.
"The couple of chances we had the boys would have put them away on any other day. It was just unlucky for us and we gave away two cheap goals."
The winning goal came from a Gavin Swankie cross that Paul Gallacher could only tip on its flight over him. He only managed to touch it into his own net. Joe felt for the keeper on his first game back:-
"He did well apart from his mistake and he was unlucky with what happened. We won't get too down about it and we have the league to look forward to in two weeks time. We will concentrate on the league but it is going to be a tough challenge this season.
"We played some good football in the first half but there wasn't that cutting edge. That is my second proper game, second start so I am looking forward to the next games as well. It is a whole new team and it will take a bit of time to gel.
"The gaffer has brought boys in from the lower leagues in Scotland and having seen what they can do in training, there is some quality there but it will take time for them to get used to the other boys and the kind of runs they are going to make."
As for Joe on Saturday he was looking very much like the 'Super Joe' that the East End Park faithful have christened him. He confirmed that is now feeling back up to his normal self:-
"It was nice to get 90 minutes under my belt even though it was on the astroturf. I enjoyed it even though we didn't get through to the next round."
