Ian Murray on trial with Pars
Friday, 20th Jul 2012JJ:- "He needs to get up to speed and he knows that."
Jim Jefferies is working on bringing in another trialist to play against Hearts on Saturday and he has also invited Thursday night's trialist, Ian Murray to join in pre season training with Dunfermline. The gaffer explained how the former Hibs captain ended up at East End Park on Thursday night:-
"We have been a bit short at the back and I knew that Ian was floating about so I asked him if he fancied playing. I said to him that I would play him in the second half because he has not been doing a lot of training. I will chat to him and see what his situation is. Maybe I could have a look at him over a couple of games."
The defender made over 250 appearances for Hibs. Now aged 31, he has returned from a short trial period at Tampa Bay Rowdies, having left Hibs at the end of last season. He was capped six times for Scotland, spent two years at Rangers from 2005 to 2007 and a short period at Norwich City in 2007. Jim Jefferies said that he might be worth considering:-
"He looked a bit short. He has been over in America training but it is not the same level or tempo that you train at over there because of the heat. It is a different type of football, they were already into their season so the stuff he needed was a pace above. He needs to get up to speed and he knows that."
