Update from the Board
Wednesday, 18th Jul 2012Detailed response from the DAFC Board of Directors
Further to our short stop press statement on Monday night, the Board would now like to offer more detail.
It is important that our supporters are fully aware that the Club has tried to, but failed, to communicate with both the SPL and SFA regarding this matter, well in advance of yesterday's meeting. Nor were we offered the opportunity to state our case at the meeting.
The Club has twice written to the SPL in recent weeks, and once to the SFA, requesting clarification on a number of matters pertaining to their decision making process. We are now only 11 days from the start of the new season, before a decision has been finally formally communicated by the SPL, despite earlier documents, comments and actions clearly demonstrating a specific option had already been planned.
Once we finally receive written clarification from the SPL regarding the exact rationale and method behind their decision, we will decide the best route to take.
However, Scottish Football needs to quickly recover from the debacle of recent months and regain its credibility and could do without any more unnecessary uncertainty. Therefore, DAFC believes it needs to maintain a bit of dignity in these already difficult times and move on from the matter of our own league position next year, and look at the wider situation affecting Scottish Football. Like hopefully all of the other Football Clubs in Scotland, we would hope the wide ranging proposals outlined last week can now be implemented, with some momentum, for the common good of the wider game, without any compromise. Scottish Football needs decisive, trustworthy and competent leadership to move forward and restore the faith of all of its stakeholders. Therefore, DAFC will fully support the SFL in any way it can to obtain the change required, for the future of our national game.
In the meantime, we will now be entirely focussed on our next campaign in SFL1. Jim Jefferies has done a sterling job in the last few weeks, in very trying circumstances, which is a credit to his professionalism. He has very little time now to finalise his squad before the start of the season, and try to get them to gel as a team, so we all need to show some patience in the next few weeks. Let's all get behind Jim and his new young team, so we can again talk about what happens on the park!
The Board has been heartened by the recent offers some fans have made to assist the Club, but can we please make one final plea to every single Pars fan out there to assist the Club in any further way that they can, as without doubt we face a really challenging period within Scottish Football.
The Board has listened to the fans, we now need all Pars fans to act as one, to motivate and encourage as many fans as we can, along to East End Park to safeguard the future of our community Club. There are so many ways to assist, be it purchasing Season Tickets, attendance at as many games as you can, donations for the North West Stand, boosting attendances at our pre season games, purchasing 50-50 tickets and matchday programmes, joining the Pars Clubdraw, player sponsorship, hospitality on match days, holding events or parties at East End Park or if you have a specific fund raising idea or initiative that you wish to discuss with the Club please email Karen Masterton karen@dafc.co.uk
The support and assistance of every Pars minded fan is so important to the Club at this time."
