Update from the DAFC Board
Tuesday, 26th Jun 2012Statement re "Newco"
UPDATE FROM THE BOARD OF DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC
Following last night's Board Meeting, the Directors of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club would like to make the following statement to the Club's supporters.
Following our relegation from the SPL, everyone connected at the Club has been entirely focussed on making the necessary preparations for next season in SFL1. A number of radical changes have already been made as part of our budget, with our commitment to youth reinforced by Jim Jefferies in his recent inspiring letter to supporters. We are aware of the need to improve communication with supporters at all levels, and we recently asked for feedback in terms of the number of positive steps we would like to take to improve the match day experience at East End Park.
As previously highlighted, we are also extremely grateful to all supporters who recently renewed their Season Ticket, and all in all everyone seems to be buoyed with a real sense of anticipation for next season.
Nonetheless, we would again appeal to anyone who has not renewed their season ticket for next season to do so before the 30th June to ensure they guarantee their seat - as all Season Tickets go on general release after this date. Your continued support is so important to the Club at this time.
However, the recent media reports surrounding the SPL vote on "Newco" and potential implications for SFL1 have been entirely unwelcome. It is difficult enough at the current time to implement a Business Plan with any degree of certainty, never mind any form of uncertainty. Therefore, it is important that the Club and its supporters stick together, and we would ask you all to continue to back our shared vision of the way forward in rebuilding the Club. Please don't let the increasingly political situation within Scottish Football distract you from supporting your own team, as we need all true Pars fans at East End Park next season.
The Board refuse at this stage to speculate on conjecture, but what we can say is that we are fully aware of the views of Pars fans in terms of sporting integrity, and any decision the Board may make on behalf of the Football Club in future will respect this, as no one wishes to alienate our own loyal supporters.
We would also reassure our supporters that the Board intends to robustly defend the Club's position if any structural change disadvantages DAFC, as has been speculated.
Nonetheless to totally ensure the engagement of all our fans, across all different age groups and categories, the Club will ask for their feedback via our official website on the subjects of "Newco" and regaining SPL membership.
