Two members of the Pars U19 squad have signed one year professional contracts. Goalkeeper Ryan Goodfellow and defender Grant Munro were pleased to be offered a new deal so that they can play for Dunfermline in next season's Under 20 league. Ryan is 19 and Grant will be 19 in July. Both have come through the Dunfermline youth system and are delighted to get the chance to show that they can have a future at Dunfermline.
Grant's interest in football started at North Berwick Colts from the age 6 to 13.. He had a brief spell at Heart of Midlothian before signing for Hibs at U15 level. Next season he found himself at Aberdeen at U16 level before joining Dunfermline Athletic at the start of the 2009 season. Grant was promoted to U19s and was a regular there either at centre half or left back.
Ryan from Earlston in the Scottish Borders has been a goalkeeper since starting at the age of six with Earlston Rhymers. As a boy he was at Hibs under coach Jimmy Bruce and also spent some time at Celtic.
It was while at Spartans at U13 level that coach Paul Donnelly brought him to Dunfermline. He has benefitted from goalkeeping coaches Scott Y Thomson and Dave Westwood and is delighted that now he is full time..
Director of Football, Jim Leishman has also confirmed that three U19s retained from 2010-11 season - Steven Leslie, Connor Schiavone and John MacDonald - have all been released.
