Manager Post Inverness
Wednesday, 2nd May 201202/05/12: JJ "We just have to go for it at Easter Road and if we manage to pull it off we can take it to the last game.
Jim Jefferies was disappointed to draw at Inverness on Wednesday night but stressed that it was important not to have lost in light of Hibs winning 2-1 at Aberdeen:-
"It keeps it alive and we know what we need to do now. We need to go to Easter Road and try and get a victory. If we do, we take it to the last game. Hibs have to come here to Inverness while we have a home game. We both have tough matches.
"Inverness maybe had more goalmouth incidents in the second half than we had. We had a couple of half chances ourselves; one was a good move and Kyle (Hutton) hit it straight down the goalkeeper's throat and the same in the second half when it came across and was played out to Martin Hardie who hit it straight down the goalkeeper's throat again.
"It was a game tonight that looked that neither side were going to score. One point made them safe and it just petered out. If you are looking for plusses from us - when a team is at the bottom of the league, to go three games undefeated including two away and to have clean sheets back to back for the first time this season just shows you that we are making a great effort to try and do it.
"All credit to Hibs for going up to Aberdeen and getting a result. If we had lost tonight it would virtually have been all over but it is not over until it is mathematically impossible. We just have to go for it at Easter Road and if we manage to pull it off we can take it to the last game. That will be a nervy situation as well."
The Manager praised his team for the run of form that they have produced under his reign:-
"To go away to St Mirren and drawing, getting a win on Saturday and a point here is probably a good little run but it is maybe not given us enough but you can see that the boys have been fighting for us. They have defended better than they have for a while so there has been improvement and hopefully we can keep that going and win the last couple of games."
Obviously to remain in the SPL the Pars need to beat both Hibs and Kilmarnock and hope that Hibs lose to Inverness Caley Thistle on the last day of the season.
"We relied on St Mirren to beat Hibs last Sunday and we were relying on Aberdeen tonight to get a result. If we had got a point here and Hibs had lost, it would have been down to two points, then a victory at Easter Road would have put it in our hands. As it is it is never going to be in our hands. We need to go and win and hope that we get a favour on the last day.
"At least in the next game it is up to us. It is still a tough match because Hibs will be buoyed by their result. I am sure that TV are happy that they have a game on Monday night where there's all to play for.
"I just hope that our quality is better than it was tonight in certain situations but this team has never let me down. They have put their heads on the line and we just need to do that again for the next two games."
