The Young One
Monday, 30th Apr 201218 year old central defender signs a new contract at Dunfermline
Kerr Young is a name that gets announced almost every week as one of the Dunfermline substitutes but the18 year old has yet to be called off the bench and so is barely known by even the most regular Dunfermline fan.
This week, however, the young central defender who started his career at Edinburgh City, has signed a contract to keep him at East End Park for another season. A Scottish Cup winner at U16 level with Edinburgh City, Kerr has played two seasons at U19 level for Dunfermline and now hopes to be given the chance to show what he can do.
It has been an anxious time for Kerr who was offered the contract by Jim McIntyre but then had to wait and see if Jim Jefferies would be as keen to sign him up. Kerr has featured in a few of the U19 games this season but he has enjoyed the 'bounce' games where he has played alongside the likes of senior players like Kevin Rutkiewicz. He commented:-
"I'd like to be involved in first team games next season and be given the chance to show what I can do. It has been good training with the first team, it is a step up."
