Not quite Super Sub Andy
Saturday, 21st Apr 2012"We were a wee bit unlucky not to nick a winner but the boys did well to come back from two goals down.
His 88th minute equaliser at St Mirren was Andy Kirk's tenth goal of the season and although it only earned a point it could be a crucial come the end of the season in three weeks time. His introduction came as a surprise to Andy but he hit the net within three minutes. Andy commented:-
"I didn't actually know that I was coming on until 30 seconds beforehand. We took a defender off and went with a three and hope that we would get something. It was nice to get on the scoresheet but we are still disappointed. It is disappointing to come away from home and score four goals but still not win.
"We were a wee bit unlucky not to nick a winner but the boys did well to come back from two goals down. My job is to score goals whether I am on the pitch from the start or coming on as a sub I will always try and do that. It did give us a point but we needed to get the win today to give ourselves a sporting chance."
After starting against Hearts Andy was left out of the team at Paisley, he added:-
"You want to play every game and always disappointed when you don't start. I am no different from anybody else but the manager has come in and considers different games and thinks different personnel might suit the way the other team play. Maybe it is something to do with that, you just get on with it. I am delighted to come on and get the goal that earned us a point.
"We will look to next week and maybe tomorrow we could get a wee bit of a favour that would keep us in the hunt."
