No Dowsing Hope
Friday, 13th Apr 2012"I know we are seven points behind but we can certainly still stay up.
Andy Dowie is still optimistic that relegation can be avoided but to do that he feels that the Pars cannot be any more than four points behind Hibs when the two sides meet on Monday 7th May.
"I know we are seven points behind but we can certainly still stay up. To go to Easter Road four points behind, we'd take that and that's the aim that maybe we should have.
"It's five games now against the teams close to us in the league. We certainly don't fear any of the teams in the league and we want to get this monkey off our back of no home wins.
"The first game that we have to deal with is St Mirren. They are a good side, they don't concede many goals at home but we need to go there and pick up three points."
Andy joined Dunfermline from Ross County in the summer of 2009 and he'd love to face up against them next season when the Staggies make their SPL debut:-
"I am just desperate to keep Dunfermline in the Premier League and after that try and get myself a new contract. Everyone will be trying their hardest to stay in this league and impress the manager."
With Kevin Rutkiewicz ruled out for the remainder of the season, Andy will be required in the centre of the defence but the 28 year old who has started 25 of the Pars 33 SPL matches this season, is not too concerned where he is played.
"The main thing is to get the team winning but I have felt quite happy with how I have played in some games but in others I have been quite disappointed. Every player would probably say the same. I have had to fill in a couple of positions that sometimes have been difficult but I just have to try my best and get on with it.
"I have not complained when played out of position. Everybody knows that I am a centre half but I have played midfield twice and right back in a good few games when there has been nobody else. I just had to do my best there whether or not I liked it. It is not as if there are any Carlos Tevez's in the team. We just have to do our best, play where you are told and do your best."
The players had time off at the start of the week but after what Andy described as a "normal hardworking session" on Thursday they played Motherwell in a friendly on Friday at East End Park. That match which saw run outs for both Nick Phinn and Andy Barrowman, ended 1-1 after Liam Buchanan had scored first to put the home team ahead. Saturday will be another training day before the squad is off for Sunday and back to a normal training week next week.
