Do ourselves a favour - McCabe
Friday, 6th Apr 2012"There will be a bit of added spice on Saturday with the ex manager of Hearts and Hearts coming here. He is still held in high esteem there and by their fans.
Assistant Manager Gerry McCabe is hoping for a result against Hearts before the two week break ahead of the fixtures post SPL split:
"Doubly better if we can get our first home win. We have gone six points behind but I think there could be a few twists and turns yet."
Naturally disappointed with the display at Tannadice last Saturday Gerry was critical of the team for not creating enough:-
"We needed to work their keeper more. I watched the Hibs game on the Sunday and it looked like Inverness could have had the game finished a couple of times but you have to give Hibs credit, they have hung in there and come away with the three points. Maybe not a great performance but a great three points.
"That's what we are needing. I know we are maybe looking for a few favours but we have got to do ourselves a favour by starting to get wins."
With six games remaining points are everything but a result on Saturday would get Dunfermline going for the final few games.
"It could end up being down to between us and Hibs at Easter Road. Before that hopefully we can pick up results and go into that game with a wee bit of momentum."
The result at Inverness might have caused the heads of the players to go down but Gerry claimed that he had seen little change in their mood. "I had a chat with them and said 'look the league is far from over, this can change so quickly but the only way it can change is by us getting results.' The spirit has been good, they know that they have got a chance and are desperate for that first home win.
"There will be a bit of added spice on Saturday with the ex manager of Hearts and Hearts coming here. He is still held in high esteem there and by their fans. We just need to go out and try and do our job. I'm sure we can get a win."
