Spanish Armada arrives
Thursday, 5th Apr 2012"We had to get him from a source that we know and has supplied players in the past who did quite well. We were relying on him and a bit of video footage.
Bernardo Dominguez Fernandez, the Pars new Spanish goalkeeper flew into Prestwick on Wednesday and Thursday was his first day in training. Jim Jefferies commented after his first morning in training:-
"You can see that he is a little bit rusty because he has not played since the back end of last year. That is understandable but once he has two or three sessions under his belt he will do okay.
"He has been brought in because we were very limited in what we could get. We had to get him from a source that we know and has supplied players in the past who did quite well. We were relying on him and a bit of video footage. You never know until the real thing but it was important that we got somebody to cover Chris Smith and put him under competition for places. That is always a better situation."
The Manager admits that Dunfermline's relegation battle has to remain until the meeting with Hibs on 7th May. The Pars have to pick up as many points as they can while hoping Hibs don't.
"We are not here to relegate Hibs but to save Dunfermline. Pat Fenlon will be trying to do the same. They took the advantage by getting the result at Inverness. One week can change it and then we could be in the hunt going to Easter Road. Tensions should be high and the tensions between Jefferies and Brown will be better. We would love to get into that position but Hibs will be wanting it to be finished before that."
