Jim Jefferies to become the new DAFC manager
Monday, 19th Mar 2012Jim Jefferies will be the new Manager of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club Wednesday afternoon
The Board of Dunfermline Athletic is delighted to announce that Jim Jefferies will be announced as Manager tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon after agreeing terms. Chairman John Yorkston commented:--
"We are delighted to secure the services of someone with a proven track record, someone with such a vast experience in football management."
When he gave up his playing career that included over 300 appearances for Hearts and 71 for Berwick Rangers, his first managerial position was in the East of Scotland League at Gala Fairydean. He then moved back to Berwick Rangers to manage them for close to two seasons.
Jim joined Falkirk for season 1990-91 and won the First Division title with them in his first season there. He also won that league title in 1994 and the Scottish Challenge Cup in 1993. His next move was to first former club, Hearts where he stayed for five years from 1995 and winning the Scottish Cup with them in 1998.
His next move was into English Football with Bradford City who were a Premier League side at the time. Just over a year later he returned north and his next managerial job was with Kilmarnock. He was manager there for just short of eight years and was appointed manager of Hearts for a second time on 29 January 2010.
Hearts finished third in the SPL in the 2010-11 season but just two games into the next SPL season was sensationally relieved of the position. Now with eight games of the season remaining, the 61 year old has the challenge of trying to save Dunfermline from relegation.
