Captain back for the crunch
Friday, 24th Feb 2012"It is going to be difficult. Hibs have made a lot of signings, they might take a bit of time to gel and we have to capitalise on that.
The lower back injury that kept Austin McCann out of action for three months was incredibly frustrating for the Club Captain so it was a relief to get back on the playing field on Wednesday:-
"It was good to be back on the bench last weekend and then as a defender on the bench it is very rarely that you will come on except for an injury. It was unfortunate that Kevin picked up an injury and had to go off at half time. Personally I was delighted to get back on the pitch after being out so long."
Jim McIntyre sees it as a boost to have his captain back available but Ozzie played down his role:-
"We have a lot of guys in our squad who are leaders. It's looking now like it is between us and Hibs, hopefully it will be us who survive." The former Jambo scored the winner at Easter Road when Dunfermline defeated Hibs in early November and would no doubt raise many more cheers down the Gorgie Road should Dunfermline survive at the expense of Hibs:-
"It is going to be difficult. Hibs have made a lot of signings, they might take a bit of time to gel and we have to capitalise on that.
"We have a lot of experienced boys who have been there and we are together as a unit - there are no cliques in the dressing room. Hibs seemed to put on a good show at Motherwell in midweek and that shows that they have something.
"We have a game against Hibs to play after the split so we will need to take each game as it comes and every game is tough. We need to take a bit of confidence from the fact we won there earlier on in the season.
Pressure is something that Austin feels Dunfermline are well equipped to deal with. Last season Raith Rovers pushed them all the way in the title race:- "We had to keep grinding out results and hopefully that will help steady us. I am glad that I am back now for the crunch games."
