Managers Post Inverness
Saturday, 18th Feb 201218/02/12: JM - ""I thought the way we played was very good, especially in the second half.
Jim McIntyre was disappointed that his team didn't record their first home win of the season, he felt that they deserved to win and commented post match:-
"I thought the way we played was very good, especially in the second half. You could see how difficult the pitch is and it means that sometimes you need to adjust the way you play. I don't think it made for a good game, especially in the first half when both teams were giving the ball away.
"We scored at a great time with a great bit of skill from Martin (Hardie) who was unlucky that it didn't go straight in but Joe (Cardle) reacted for us. So that was a timely boost for us.
"In the second half I thought we played better and I thought we created real good goalscoring opportunities and we should have put the game to bed but we never. Inverness scored a good goal themselves. We should have defended it better but in terms of going forward we were pleased with that but just didn't do the final bit.
"Sometimes when results don't go your way people question your commitment but I will never question my players commitment, they give it to me every day in training and that's all you can ask for."
The win might have happened had 74th minute sub Liam Buchanan placed his header in the net rather than over the crossbar when the chance came to him in the dying minutes.
"Liam has scored five goals for us this season already, he knows that he should score but the wee man will bounce back from that. He was in the right place and as long as he keeps getting into those areas then he will score more than he misses."
Inverness Caley manager, Terry Butcher thought that his side had dominated the first half without being ruthless in the box:-
"We made some good openings but from their first effort on goal they scored. We came in 1-0 down and you think, wow. It was just a case of getting out there in the second half , try not to be anxious, try not to let the scoreline affect you and go and play the way we can play.
"We didn't quite do that but got a very good equaliser. Then you think 'go on then, lets go and win the match'. If it had gone to extra time then probably we would have done " he joked.
"I am pleased with the character of the boys coming back but we didn't really perform the way we normally do. We have a 45 minute warm up against this lot down here, we never seem to get going until the second half. When we did get going we looked pretty dangerous."
Terry had little dispute over the foul that conceded trhe free kick that resulted in Dunfermline's 45th minute goal:-
"We have got to defend better than that; we had two players going for the ball when it came back off the crossbar and unfortunately it went to their player who scored.
"Both managers will say that they should have won the game, probably a draw is a fair result but we see it as two points lost because we wanted to catch the teams above us and use this as the springboard to the top six."
The Inverness gaffer was glad to have Billy McKay back and hopes to see Gregory Tade back soon as well although he was bemused with the Frenchman's injury that could only have been caused by a nightmare:-
"Hopefully Gregory will sleep well because he woke up last week with an achilles injury. I might just go round and tuck him up in bed to make sure he has a good night's sleep because I can't afford any more injuries with players getting injured in their sleep! I have never known that before. Maybe he was sleepwalking, I don't know - bizarre."
