Preview Inverness CT
Wednesday, 15th Feb 2012Saturday 18th February - the Pars meet Inverness Caley Thistle for the fifth time this season
On Saturday the Pars meet Inverness Caley Thistle for the fifth time this season. So far all four games - two in the SPL and two in the William Hill Scottish Cup have all ended even after 90 minutes. In the Scottish Cup Replay last month at East End Park, the Highlanders won through 3-1 in extra time so it can be expected that this is going to be another close encounter.

It is 11 games back now since Dunfermline last defeated Inverness Caley at East End Park that was over twelve years ago in December 1999. Since then Caley successes in Fife include two cup victories. The aforementioned Scottish Cup Replay and a CIS Insurance Cup tie played on 9th October 2001. That night Jimmy Calderwood`s Pars side went out on penalties despite a 63rd minute Steven Hampshire equaliser getting the Pars back on track at 1-1.

Both sides will want three points from this game. Terry Butcher`s side are two places above the Pars with 26 points to Dunfermline`s 18 but Inverness have a game in hand. Their advantage is clearly down to a run of seven matches undefeated, five of them in the SPL. The sequence was brought to an end last Saturday when they went down 1-0 at Celtic Park.
