Pars defender Andy Dowie felt that any neutral watching Dunfermline's game at Pittodrie would have conceded that the Pars deserved something from the game. He commented after the match:-
"It was a good performance from us but ultimately we have come away without the points and we are very disappointed."
That disappointment is heightened in the light of two Liam Buchanan and two chances that broke to Ryan Thomson in the first 45 minutes and Andy added:-
"We had a good chance to take the lead but unfortunately we never. Then we conceded a sloppy goal but the first half I felt was fairly even."
"In the second half I feel we dominated the game and should have come away with at least a point."
Dunfermline lost the game because of a bad decision made by keeper Iain Turner when he decided to firstly come and then secondly stop when he decided that he was not going to get to a Mark Reynolds long ball into the top of his penalty box. Dowie claimed that he did not really get a good view of the incident but added:-
"He will be really disappointed with the goal but he had a great save just after it. That is what Iain is capable of."
All might have been forgiven had Joe Cardle snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat in the dying minutes.
"There was a mix up with their goalkeeper. Things like that have gone against us recently. We never really got the break of the ball but hopefully that will change soon. If we get them I am sure we will pick up the points we need to stay in the league."
Andy revealed the mood of the dressing rooms which still remains very positive:-
"We are trying to keep up our spirits. Obviously after a defeat we are down and especially when we know we have not played well. But today we can hold our heads high after that performance. We have had a lot of games in the last few weeks and we will be in Monday and Tuesday when I don't think the sessions will be too tough."
The Aberdeen match was the seventh match in January for the Pars and although they sit this cup weekend out they will be back in action on Tuesday 7th February when the match postponed from 10th December will be played at East End Park:-
"We will kick on and build for the next game. Kilmarnock will be wanting to sort us out after what we did to them but it is an opportunity to get three points which we desperately need."
Footnote: as a consequence of Celtic defeating Falkirk in the semi final of the Scottish Communities Cup on Sunday, Dunfermline's trip to Celtic Park on 17th March will need to be re-scheduled since the final of that cup competition will be played on Sunday 18th March.
