Manager on Monday
Monday, 23rd Jan 201223/01/12: JM - "We are bottom of the league for a reason because we deserve to be there for our performances.
Jim McIntyre was delighted that his players could enjoy the first Saturday night in 11 weeks having won three points:-
"I was delighted for the players because it has been a while. The manner of the performance I thought was really good and keeping a clean sheet is always important. It was a real team performance and I was delighted for them."
Mark Kerr made his Pars debut and it was clear that the former Aberdeen and Dundee United player made a big impact:-
"I thought he had a great game but I thought it was a real team performance. Mark Kerr gave us composure on the ball and energy in the middle of the park and Gary Mason was excellent beside him. The two wide players worked really hard to get back in and stifle Kilmarnock at times as well but I thought our two strikers set the tone.
"They were the ones who were putting Kilmarnock 's back four under a lot of pressure and with big Rutkiewicz back in the team it made a difference to those around him. He is an organiser and bosses and that's very important.
"When you have won you want to play, although it is another difficult fixture, it's a tough week in terms of three away games. Motherwell is always a tough place to go and for some reason they have been like ourselves and have struggled a wee bit at home, though not as bad as us."
Motherwell will be buoyed from their late leveller at Tannadice on Saturday and the Manager acknowledged that and the fact that Stuart McCall has put together a team made up of some very good players.:-
"They have a lot of pace in their side, pace on both flanks, clever players and a big target man up front, so they are dangerous opposition."
As always it is what Dunfermline do on Tuesday night that is important but everyone hopes they can continue from where they left off at Kilmarnock:-
"There is no doubt that we have had a tough period and although the performances have been better of late we have still been shooting ourselves in the foot. Saturday they defended for their lives and we did the basics far better than what we have been doing and that gives you a platform to go on and score the first goal. That was really pleasing.
"It was one performance and the players are fully aware of that. We are bottom of the league for a reason because we deserve to be there for our performances. There is no getting away from that, but we now have a chance to move off the bottom of the league. You take it one game at a time, you don't get carried away with a good performance as it is so important that you treat every game as if its your last.
"We understand that it will be difficult to go to Motherwell and pick up three points, but that's what we will be trying to do."
