Transfer Window Update
Friday, 6th Jan 201206/01/12: JM - "We'll definitely have new faces at the club before the end of the month, there is no doubt about that."
With five days of the transfer window gone, we've yet to hear any announcements from the club with regards to new signings. However Manager Jim McIntyre is hard at work trying to secure the signatures of players to bring them to East End Park. Jim said,
"It seems I'm spending every spare second at the moment on the phone. I think I spend seven hours yesterday on and off. But that's part of the job and January is a crazy time. A lot of clubs don't want to sell or loan players until the end of the month because they want to see what happens with other clubs coming in for their squad and where there gaps might be.It can be both time consuming and frustrating. We've had a couple of enquires for quality players that have been knocked back but we'll keep trying."
We asked Jim if the club's current league position made it more difficult to bring in the quality of players needed to help rescue the Pars current season and secure SPL survival. Jim said:-
"No, it's not the attraction of coming to the team that's bottom of the league that's causing the frustrations. The bottom line is that if you're a player at a club and you're not getting games, you'll be desperate to get out and play no matter what the league position of the club you're going to."
The management team are leaving no stone uncovered in their search to find the right faces for the squad and we asked Jim how he goes about finding fresh new faces. He says, "Agents, the media, your own contacts within the game, phoning other managers. You look at their teams, you look at who is not playing and you think 'could he do a job for us'. We look at teams in England, we get overseas players recommended to us all the time; there are lots of ways to find players. Then you have to do your homework and hopefully when you sign a player they hit it off with the rest of the team.""We'll definitely have new faces at the club before the end of the month, there is no doubt about that."
