Muted celebration for Jason
Sunday, 11th Sep 2011On loan Jambo notches first senor goal but defeat spoils his day
Any euphoria for Jason Thomson's first senior goal was tinged with the disappointment of defeat:-
"It was my first senior goal; obviously good to score but the main thing was the result. I think we might have deserved at least a point because of the chances and from being ahead. The gaffer said that there are games like that we really need to go on and win."
The 24 year old described his goal as a bit of a scramble:-
"It came from a corner where the Killie boy tried to clear it. The ball hit off the shin pad and went in. Its still a goal and I am happy with that but it would have been good to get the win with it."
Jason's first half goal was followed by an equaliser early in the second half from substitute Ryan Thomson - his first for the club too. The 20 year old with his ginger hair could easily be confused with Jason and apparently his team mates are included in that:-
"A few of the boys give me stick for the ginger hair and us both being called Thomson but we just take it as a bit of a laugh."
The defender pinpointed the Pars downfall after losing three goals for the third time in six SPL matches.
"We always think that we are going to score goals but we need to start keeping them out at the other end or we are not going to win games. It saps confidence from the whole team if we cannot keep the ball out.
"Killie are a much improved team this season and it has been noted in the press. A few teams come here and only come away with a draw and that was the least we deserved. It is another game gone and we just need to look at the next game now and fix the things that were not right before that."
The on loan Hearts player has become dangerous to opposition defences because of his accurate and early cross balls. Naturally he is looking forward to the Pars next fixture against Edinburgh rivals Hibernian:-
"The gaffer has touched on that and I took that on today. Playing for the team you just want to do well and we have Hibs at home next. They play tomorrow and they will be looking for results. It is a game where we think we can go and get the three points. If we can play like we did in spells today - like the first twenty minutes - and sort the defending, then we can get a win."
