Standing at East End Park
Wednesday, 31st Aug 2011Update on the standing situation at East End Park
Dunfermline Athletic are continuing to liaise closely with home and away fans in relation to the standing issues. The club would like to stress its appreciation of the fans sensible approach to the issue at the Motherwell and Raith Rovers games.
DAFC would like to take this opportunity to remind fans that there are SPL, SFA and Safety Certificate Implications if fans stand for prolonged periods which could result in the Club being fined up to £15,000 - money which the Board would rather invest in players. Furthermore, the club does receive ongoing complaints from other supporters where views are restricted by fans who are standing.
DAFC would like to clarify that fans are not being stopped from standing up in reaction to events on the park, merely requested for the reasons explained previously to refrain from standing for prolonged periods. This will not impact upon the atmosphere at East End Park.
The issue of away fans standing is noted by the SPL delegate on a game-by-game basis and ultimately partially a responsibility of the away team.
The club are in advanced negotiations with Fife Police to introduce police free games at East End Park. These already now happen at Stark Park. Withdrawal of police from the stadium would save the club £10,000's which could be re-invested in the squad or youth teams for the future. This can't happen currently when a number of fans insist on standing but can with your continued efforts.
Please support the Pars sensibly and with consideration for both the club and your fellow supporters.
