Joe Cardle Post Motherwell
Sunday, 28th Aug 2011Two goals from 'Super Joe' little consolation as Pars take a lesson from Stuart McCall's Motherwell.
To score two goals was no consolation to Joe Cardle since the result was a defeat . He claimed the first goal after David Graham's 69th minute shot travelled into the net off his chest and then in 88 minutes the second netted with the aid of a deflection off Stephen Craigan. He acknowledged that Motherwell had proved to be stiff opponents:- "They played very well from start to finish, they are a quality side. We have a break now for the international weekend but we need to get our heads up. We can't be down about it, it is all part and parcel of the SPL experience. We were expecting hard games like this even though we had done well over the last few weeks and been unbeaten. "We went in at half time 2-0 down and came back.
Eight points from the first five games is possibly a tally that most would have accepted readily before the event, Joe was no different:-
"We would definitely have taken that. Even in the St Johnstone and Dundee United games away from home, I have watched them both from start to finish, where I don't think we dominated but we were still creating chances that we should score from. At Dundee United they made chances but so did we.
"I wouldn't say the honeymoon is over. We can't get down about the result today. The boys are still positive and I don't think they are going to give up now."
