Preview Motherwell
Thursday, 25th Aug 2011This will be the 109th league meeting between these sides and Motherwell are well ahead having won 46 so far to Dunfermline`s 36.
After the shock Scottish Communities League Cup exit at New Bayview on Tuesday night, the Pars will be desperate to put that behind them. If defeat by a side near the bottom of the Second Division is followed by a home win over Motherwell that would, in the absence of Old Firm games, take Dunfermline to the top of the SPL!
Motherwell return to East End Park for the first time since May 2007. Stuart McCall`s side have been the early league leaders but suffered a serious setback with the 3-0 defeat at home to Rangers on Sunday. That said the Steelmen gave a good account of themselves and are bound to be a difficult hurdle between the Pars and their first home win of the season.

After 28 Premier League games at East End Park the Pars are ahead 10 - 9 on wins and nine have been drawn so its a fairly even chance. Saturday though will bring together virtually totally different sides; Stephen Craigan and Gary Mason are the sole survivors from the last meeting at the end of 2006-07.

Motherwell have started the season well only being toppled off top spot by Rangers on Sunday. Their three wins have been over Inverness Caley Thistle, Hearts and St Mirren. Their match against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park was drawn.
Dunfermline have drawn both their opening SPL games but wins at McDiarmid Park and Tannadice have help bring the points tally to eight.
