Hyde seeking success
Friday, 1st Apr 2011Jake's journey to Dunfermline brings him from Dundee via Dunblane and Dingwall.
The Pars new English striker may not be fully aware of Scottish geography and Scottish football but he has been happy to clock up the miles in pursuit of a club in what has been a somewhat busy week for him.
Jake Hyde is sure that his preparation for his second Pars appearance will be a lot less frantic than his trip to Dingwall. On Tuesday Jake was up at 6.30am to avoid the traffic problems coming out of Glasgow on the M80 with his destination being Dundee. By 9.30am he had turned around and was on his way back to collect his match gear.
"My agent told me that Dunfermline wanted to take me until the end of the season. I was thrilled because I didn't want my season to end on Thursday at the transfer deadline. It all came about really quickly."
Jake then travelled from Glasgow back to Dunblane to meet Jim McIntyre and then first meeting with his new team mates was when the team bus rolled into Perth. The miles continued to clock up with the round trip up the A9 and back. Another factor contributing to Jake's whizz around Scotland was the chance to win promotion with the Pars:-
"I had no hesitation in joining Dunfermline. You do not get to win many things in your career and it would be brilliant to win promotion with this team. When the top of the league club wants you, you go right away.
"Hopefully I can help the Club to promotion and I have ambitions to get a longer deal. I will be trying my hardest between now and the end of the season."
Of the five remaining games, three are at East End Park but the 20 year old who has so far only seen Dens Park and Victoria Park will have visits to look forward to Central Park and Cappielow with the Pars. What's more Jake played the Blue Brazil last Saturday as a Dundee player so at least he knows what to expect from their play.
"I haven't been to Cowdenbeath yet so I don't know what it's like but I will be trying hard and if I can score another two goals against them that would be great. Coming up here on such short notice it is hard to know your opponents and know what you are up against. I am in the dark a bit about it all but at least I know about Cowdenbeath.
"Every striker would like to think that they are a goalscorer. My record is not too bad so far up here but I think I am quite a hardworking striker. I always try hard but I guess that's for other people to judge."
