Liam Buchanan is adamant he got the final touch on Pars first goal. "The wind held the ball up a bit and fell to hit the back of my head, when I looked round it was in the back of the net.

Liam Buchanan was lobbying the linesman as he left the pitch on Saturday trying to ensure that the referee credited him with Dunfermline's opening goal. He explained why he was sure that he had got a touch on Steven McDougall's 51st minute corner, his first of the game from the left:-

"It was a delivery in from 'Dougal' and I was delighted to get on the end of it. I didn't really know much about it. The wind held the ball up a bit and fell to hit the back of my head, when I looked round it was in the back of the net. I saw the ball coming in, obviously the keeper was trying to get there and I just nicked in front of him."

After a goalless first half the goal six minutes into the second half was just the breakthrough that the Pars needed. With the strikers drawing a blank in Dingwall in midweek the execution of this goal was a welcome relief. Liam described how he saw the match:-

"It was an even game but it is a hard place to come to and we knew the first goal was important - it didn't really matter how it went in. We built on that with a second one - it took a bad bobble in front of Bob (Harris) as Kirkie closed him down and it flew into the net but we will take anything at the minute.

"I have always quite liked coming to Palmerston because I have scored a few goals against Queen of the South when I was at Thistle. A win keeps us going though and keeps us up the table.

"At 2-0 up and the home team getting a goal back the next fifteen minutes were a bit nervy but the boys at the back were tremendous, defended well and although Queens put pressure on us I don't think they had many clear cut chances.

"It was a physical game, I don't really like to see people getting sent off because it is better for the game if players stay on the pitch. The referee decided just to book players."

Liam deflected questions requiring answers that would have him speculate what the final 13 league games would do for Dunfermline's promotion quest.

"We just take each game as it comes. Everybody wants to play in the Premierleague and it is great for the fans if the club got back there. At the end of the season we shall see where we end up in the table. You can't look too far ahead, we are second in the league at the moment but need to go top to go up. Raith are in pole position and it is up to us to put the points on the board."
