McDougall claims goal
Saturday, 26th Feb 2011"The wind was on my side as well and it went straight in. I think a couple of boys are trying to claim it but Kirkie is my backer.
Steven McDougall was on corner kicks at Dumfries and after the game he was claiming that his 51st minute delivery from one on the left went straight into the net.
"It was my first inswinger, the rest were outswingers but it was just a case of getting it as close to the goal. The wind was on my side as well and it went straight in. I think a couple of boys are trying to claim it but Kirkie is my backer, he said nobody touched it."
Liam Buchanan on the other hand post match told the press that the back of his head sent the ball into the net for the opening goal and to confuse matter more the BBC gave the goal to Martin Hardie who was one of a posse of players attacking the cross from Steven's corner.
In the absence of the transferred Willie Gibson and the injured Pat Clarke, Steven returned to the role that he had served Airdrie United in so well prior to coming to Dunfermline:-
"It was good to play right midfield for about a year and a half, it was different going back there but I really enjoyed it. You'll not get a player unhappy as long as he is playing wherever that is."
The 3-1 result delighted the players and Steven reminded us how Palmerston Park is not the easiest place in the First Division to collect three points:-
"Queens are a really good side; they gave us a wee scare when they got the goal back but thankfully we scored again and then got the result. We have a busy month ahead and hopefully I can be involved in every game. We will be looking for wins and I'll not be fussed whether or not I'm played upfront or wide right or left. I'll be happy to score some more goals, especially straight from a corner!"
