Manager Post Rangers
Tuesday, 21st Sep 201021/09/10: JM - ""We have got to look at the goals we gave away and that was the sore point tonight.
Jim McIntyre reflected on the crucial moments in the game:-
"We asked the boys at half time to go and show a bit of courage, try and get the next goal and see where that takes us. But (after scoring) we committed the cardinal sin 20 seconds later by giving away the next goal. That was crucial and we started not doing our job properly.
"It was very disappointing to give away that fourth goal, it was poor defending and totally deflated us. When a team scores seven goals you have got to give them credit. Their appetite for the game was very good even in the last ten minutes they were still pushing forward, still trying to create which says a lot about them.
"We have got to look at the goals we gave away and that was the sore point tonight. The positives were our play going forward. I thought we created, at times showed good bravery on the ball and tried to commit men forward. We put some dangerous balls into the box.
"Another crucial moment was Joe Cardle's on the byeline when he should have squared it. He didn't, chose to shoot and Rangers went up the park to score a fifth goal. We basically didn't pick enough of the right options in the second half."
Can Macca use this big match atmosphere to influence his team's desires to play in the top league?
"We are in a very difficult First Division and our main aim is to get promotion so these are the places that you want to come to. Our bread and butter is Saturday with Partick away. We have got to show a reaction to tonight's result which I am sure I will get because this is a difficult place to come."
