Manager on Friday
Friday, 17th Sep 201017/09/10: JM:- "We want to continue our successful run; these are the games that we are expected to do well in but you must never underestimate teams.
Jim McIntyre is looking forward to the clubs third derby match in six games:-
"We had a good result last week and we want to try and continue that. Cowdenbeath are on great form; they had a fantastic victory against Morton and they have been a welcome addition to the league with three wins out of five. We know that we are in for a right tough game.
"They have continued from where they left off, after being promoted Jimmy Nic has done a fine job there. We are under no illusions just how difficult it is going to be but we know that if we work as hard as we have been, earn the right to play and then we would have a good chance of winning the game. We must compete and we must do the right things and play with a tempo."
So what does Macca expect from a team that former Pars player and Assistant Manager, Jimmy Nic's in charge of?
"We know they like to play football, they have Colin Cameron - an old head who is a very good footballer - a top player in his day and still pulling the strings. He was their best player last week at Morton according to our match report. They will come and have a go, I don't think that they will come and sit in. I have no doubt about that."
For Cowdenbeath the visit to East End Park for their first league game in 17 years is definitely a special trip but possibly no different than for the other teams in the First Division:-
"I think everybody comes to Dunfermline and raises their game since this is one of the best stadiums in the league.
"Results are the most important thing, if you can get a good performance along with it then that is pleasing. We want to continue our successful run; these are the games that we are expected to do well in but you must never underestimate teams. Our players will be focussed and well warned that Cowdenbeath are a threat. You can see already with nine points that they are a threat.
The Manager confirmed that he has a full squad to pick from apart from the longer termed injured David Graham and Greg Paterson (who was 21 on Thursday 16th September). Jack Ross has been added to the squad and the gaffer explained;-
"We knew that he was available. Calum Woods can play anywhere along the back, he can play left back, he can play centre back but it was the one position that I felt we didn't have cover for, because both centre backs aren't comfortable at right back. We are thrilled to bring Jack in, he is a quality player with great experience and he is a great professional."
The new astro pitch was in the process of being fitted at Pitreavie and Macca commented:-
"It is a great facility to have on our doorstep and it will save us having to do the travelling that we did last winter. Hopefully we don't have to use it as often as we did last year. It is always better, as a professional, training on the grass but I am sure that the locals will get great use out of it."
