Neil McGregor Post Dundee
Monday, 17th Jan 2011"We maybe could have done that bit better but Dundee sat in behind the ball and it meant we had take three or four touches and drove into spaces where we didn't want to be.
Neil McGregor felt frustrated after not taking advantage when Dundee went down to ten men for almost the whole second half:-
"They made it hard for us to break them down and the ten men sat in. They had a couple of chances when we left it too slack but that's just the way it goes sometimes."
The Manager was encouraging his central defenders to push forward but that was not made that easy for them:-
"I am used to defending but obviously he wanted us to get the ball away as quickly as we can. We maybe could have done that better but Dundee sat in behind the ball and it meant we had take three or four touches and drove into spaces where we didn't want to be. We just had to take that on the chin and get on with it.
"They got a wee bit of confidence midway through the second half when we got a wee bit slack. At the end of the day we dropped two points."
Next up is the Scottish Cup tie against Montrose and Neil feels they might come and put up a similar defence:-
"We have just got to deal with that. We have boys in the wide areas who can beat players; they are up there with the best in the league."
Neil would look no further than Tuesday night's replay against Montrose:-
"That's the most important game right now. We are not really thinking about having better chances with Rangers and Celtic drawn together and SPL teams going out."
Tuesday night will give Neil another chance at breaking his goalscoring duck. In 32 starts and one appearance off the bench, the 25 year old has still to find the net.
"I had so many chances up there but I'd love to get my name on the scoresheet. We all need to take more chances."
