DAFC Heritage Group
Tuesday, 25th Mar 2014Secure foundations are laid so that Pars supporters of the future will have access to and be able to celebrate the club's heritage and history.
At this point in the club's history it is important that secure foundations are laid so that Pars supporters of the future will have access to and be able to celebrate the club's heritage and history.
"Heritage" includes not only tangible items like trophies, medals and other memorabilia, but also less tangible mementos like old films and photos of the Pars as well as oral records of players' and fans' voices and memories.
Following a proposal at the Supporters' Council meeting in February, Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is pleased to announce that a Heritage Group has been set up under the Club Historian, Duncan Simpson, and a number of workstreams have already been identified to deal with different aspects of the work - which is considerable!
Advice and assistance has also been freely given by representatives from the Hibernian Historical Trust and from the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden, and the DAFC Board is fully behind the project - Bob Garmory has agreed to "sponsor" the Group at Board level, and both he and Margaret Ross are involved in the workstreams.
The Heritage Group includes several people already identified as being key to the success of the project, but if you would like to be involved and have a particular interest in heritage work, football history or statistics, please get in touch with John Simpson at jasimpson123@yahoo.co.uk. The help and involvement of all Pars fans is welcome - whether young or old, male or female - all that matters is that you are willing and able to contribute to the success of the project.
