Stephen - better show, same result

Listen to this Stephen Husband interview
After the 2-0 defeat from Rangers on Saturday Stephen Husband felt that Dunfermline played well but were unfortunate not to get any kind of a result out of it:-
"We just have to look at ourselves and try to be more penetrating in the final third and take chances when we get them."
All the Pars players lifted themselves to tackle the League One champions and Stephen in particular put in a lot of effort. He said:-
"All the boys at Dunfermline give their all every week and the majority of the times come out with the result. In the last few weeks we have not managed to scored goals and if you don't score goals, you don't win matches."
The 23 year old midfielder agreed that it was a bit of an injustice to go in a goal behind at half time but he did not feel that the free kick decision was one that they could challenge:-
"I felt it was harsh, we played well and dominated the game. Andy knows himself that he took the guys legs, it was a definite free kick. The quality of the free kick from Steven Smith was too good for Ryan, I don't think there was very much that he could do about it. It was a good free kick."
Dunfermline continued to threaten the Rangers goal in the second half but with their opponents dropping back deep it was hard to penetrate the Gers defences:-
"We had a couple of shots from the edge of the box but Alex Whittle's chance to shoot in the first half is an example of not taking chances. We have to work on that."
Contemplating if that had been Dunfermline's best showing against Rangers this season, Stephen felt that even with previous performances being good the match on Saturday was the best:-
"We have done really well and not given them many chances. When we get chances we have to make sure that we put them away. A team as good as Rangers do that with the quality players they have got. The boys showed their quality and showed that we were probably the better team on the day."
Stephen praised the 20 year old Pars substitute keeper who had never played in front of such a sizeable crowd as he came on to after just five minutes of the match:-
"What Ryan Goodfellow did today was a massive credit to himself. He came on and dominated from the back. It was harsh for him not to keep a clean sheet as well - two good goals, pretty much unstoppable - so he will be disappointed.
"Finishing second is our goal but three points against Rangers would have been a good start. We have East Fife and then Brechin so that makes a tough end to the month as well. We will go into both these matches to take the three points and hopefully end up in that second place."
Stephen was unwilling to talk about any movements in contract talks for him. His agent would appear to have spoken to the manager.
