Preview Rangers
Thursday, 13th Mar 2014Peterhead were the last team to defeat Rangers at Ibrox with a 2-1 win on 20th April last year.
This Saturday lunchtime Dunfermline are back at Ibrox on league business for just the second time since December 2011.
The Pars success rate in the 103 league meetings so far in Glasgow have brought just nine wins and fifteen draws. The Fifers failed to record an away win over Rangers in the Premier League; twenty three of the twenty six Premier League visits to Ibrox ended in defeat.

The last Pars league victory at Ibrox was in April 1972, almost 40 years ago. Jim Leishman scored the winning goal that day (as he never forgets to tell us), with the other goals coming from Ken Mackie, Kenny Thomson, plus an own goal from Sandy Jardine.

Dunfermline`s last league win over Rangers was in December 2003 when a Stevie Crawford goal and Vanoli own goal handed the Pars a rare 2-0 win. However the 14 matches since then have seen the Gers win twelve and draw two. When these teams last met, at East End Park on 30th December 2013 it was an easy 4-0 win for McCoists` men.

In November it took a Lee McCulloch penalty twenty minutes from the end to get the Gers ahead, John Daly added to that seven minutes later but a Josh Falkingham goal with ten minutes to go made for a tense end. The Fifers were unlucky to lose a third in the second minute of added time.
Rangers lead over Dunfermline in second place in League One is a massive 26 points allowing them to win the title on Wednesday night with eight matches remaining. They have now played 37 matches this season, won 33 and drawn four. The match at Forfar back in August went to extra time when the home side famously won 2-1. That is the only blemish on their 2013-2014 record but Albion Rovers came close on Sunday and Jim Jefferies team can return to Ibrox with some inspiration from the League Two club`s success.
