Fantastic February
Monday, 10th Mar 201410/03/14: JJ - "It is a nice award to get but it is due to the efforts of everybody; not just the players on the park but the back room staff as well.
Jim Jefferies has been presented with the League One Manager of the Month award for February. He commented:-
"It is a nice award to get but it is due to the efforts of everybody; not just the players on the park but the back room staff as well. You just have to accept these things on behalf of everybody. We had a great month. I must have come close a couple of months earlier in the season but other teams did well as well to deserve it.
"It has been a very competitive league with the way the results have gone but February turned out to be a great month for us. There were two difficult games away and two games at home."
Maybe its a shame it is not a leap year since just as soon as February ended fortunes changed, Jim continued:-
"That is why we got beat at Stranraer. You always get beat in the next game! I was looking for an excuse but that wasn't it. We just defended badly."
The last time JJ won the Manager of the Month Award was the First Division's in September 2012. Many troubled waters have flowed under the Pars desperate survival bridges but now nearly a year after it was announced that the club was going into administration. The manager feels that this is just reward for the combined efforts of all the fans groups.
"The supporters have done their bit in keeping the name alive. We have tried to repay them by trying to play good football and giving 110 per cent every week. I don't think that even in games where we have dropped points or lost that they could ever complain about lack of effort or lacklustre displays. Yes there have been mistakes and gave goals away by young boys being naive.
"It is to match that effort that the supporters have put into the club along with the people who have taken over the club. Everybody is pulling together and everybody is enjoying it. That always makes up for a lot when things don't work out. At least they can say well these boys tried, you cannot blame them. Everybody is trying their hardest."
