Geggan going for goal

ANDY GEGGAN

Andy Geggan is looking forward to the match against Stenhousemuir, though the feelings at Ochilview about renewing acquaintances with the 26 year old Dunfermline midfielder might be rather different. Andy missed the last home game against Stenny with a bug but in the away fixtures his goals in 89th and 91st minutes secured late victories. Andy reflected:-

"They had a good win last week so it will be a hard game. It always seems to be the last minute we score in, so they'll be up for it - they'll definitely be up for it."

It was Allan Smith's added time goal that won the match for the Pars at home but all three games are ones that either side could have won.

"I think they are a big, stuffy team, and they are quite organised. Obviously they've got Bryan Hodge in the middle, he's quite a tidy player, and they've brought in Stewart Greacen at the back, good players.

"We're expecting a different game this weekend because they've got a new manager in, and they are on a good run at the moment so it will probably be a totally different game than it has been."

Dunfermline's reversal against Stranraer should act as a bit of a wake-up call, Andy continued:-

"I think you just go out there and try to win every game from now on. Last week was a wee bit of a downer but the boys are all up for it on training and we'll be up for it on Saturday." Keeping the motivation up is important but not so easy given that Rangers are running away with the league.

"At the end of the day we're sitting second by a good few points. It is hard to keep yourself motivated but the boys are all flying in training. The team spirit is there and it's good. The play-offs are going to be the hardest thing because of what happened last time we were in the play-offs but we'll look forward to it.

" It's going to be Stranraer probably and we know it will be a hard game going down there obviously because of what happened on Saturday. But I'd fancy us at home against anybody. Then it could be Cowdenbeath or Alloa?.I'd like to get Alloa to try and get our own back. We'll just need to get there first."

Andy Geggan congratulates Faissal El Bakhtaoui on his debut goal

The immediate task in hand is to take three points from the visit of Stenhousemuir and another Geggan goal or two would be just fine:-

" I just want to get a goal - I've not scored for a wee while! To be honest, I'd rather just fight for the team and not even bother scoring. As long as we get the three points I don't really care. If it comes up it comes up, and I'll need to celebrate differently this time. Hopefully we'll get a wee 3-0 or something, a clean sheet on Saturday, just to get us going again."
