Jim Jefferies is delighted to secure Andy Geggan's signature and was delighted that discussions came to a successful conclusion:-

"It's been relatively straight forward. Andy has been in the middle of changing agents but there was never any doubt once we had a chat and sorted it out. We are delighted that he has signed for another two years.  We offered him a new two year contract as he was out of contract at the end of the season and free to move on.  Everybody is happy and it is a bit of security, so we will see how things go. Nobody knows what division we are going to be in, but they are all ambitious, which I am glad, they all want to play at the highest level that they can."

Several players are already signed up for next season and Andy Geggan is hopeful that is in a higher division. The player views all this in a positive light and he is optimistic for promotion through the play offs:-

"Definitely - that is the aim this year to get up there. He has brought in players such as Danny Grainger, Ross Forbes and Jonathan Page as well so he is obviously looking to get strong."

New faces and the demonstration of confidence all acts as a boost to the Pars squad, Andy agreed:-

"Definitely - you can see the players that he has brought in and the quality that they have its going to give everybody a wee boost.  It's going to give competition for places as well which is better."

The addition of Danny Grainger, Ross Forbes and Jonathan Page will help the young players in the squad in contrast to last season when there was no help available at the end of the season and they ran out of steam.  Andy as one of the most senior players at East End Park pointed out that it will be different this season as we are aiming to go up, not stay up like last season:-

"There was a lot of pressure on us to stay up but this year the pressure will be on the team above us (in the relegation play off) if we get to the final with them.  Then it will be pressure on them rather than us.  It's a total different ball game, but is better that the new boys have come in to help the young guys as well.  It helps me, it helps everybody, it brings everyone a wee bit closer and we start reading the game a wee bit better.   I'm one of the old ones now!"

Jim Jefferies said that he brought his new signings here to get Dunfermline to the higher level and keeping Geggs was a crucial part of his plans:-

"It's not their fault that we are in this division but they have got to work hard to get out of it.  Bringing these guys in (Grainger, Forbes, Page) lets everybody see that we mean business and not just relying on that inexperience all the time. The boys that we brought in are going to help for the run in, first to consolidate being in the play offs and secondly when the play offs come round that we are ready to go. 

"I think that has helped make up one or two minds and I am glad that they see that.  The supporters don't want to be in this division, the staff don't want to be in the division, the players and board don't want to be in this division, so get us there, get us back up and if we do and if a big club comes in for them then there is a proviso that the club gets looked after. "

Twenty six year old Andy Geggan  joined Dunfermline from Ayr United at the start of the 2012/2013 season and he was deployed at right back initially due to a lack of cover in the Pars squad. He soon made a big impression in midfield, driving the team forward, and he made over 30 appearances in his first year at East End Park.  That figure has since doubled.

Prior to his time at Somerset Park, Geggs played for Dumbarton and was a member of the squad that won the Third Division title in 2009.
