Jim Jefferies has today (Friday 31st January) secured two new players for his squad. Both Danny Grainger and Ross Forbes have experience of playing top flight football in Scotland.
Danny Grainger was born in Penrith and started his football career across the border at Gretna. He made 52 appearances for them before leaving and joining Dundee United at the start of 2008. After one and a half seasons at Tannadice the defender joined St Johnstone where he was to play 69 matches and then moved on to Hearts.
The 27 year old who has made 13 appearances for St Mirren this season brings with him to Dunfermline experience from 235 competitive appearances in Scotland. Jim Jefferies knows him from his time at Tynecastle and has signed him until the end of this season.
Ross Forbes will be 25 years old in March, he was born in Bishopbriggs and he began his football career with Motherwell. The midfielder made 70 appearances for the Steelmen before moving in September 2012 to Partick Thistle at a time when Dunfermline has also shown an interest in signing him.
Ross has made 30 appearances for Thistle and he scored six goals for them, two of which were against Dunfermline last season. Although featuring in recent fixtures, he has not started a match since 1st December. Ross has signed a deal with Dunfermline until the end of next season.
Both players are dropping down the divisions to join the Pars but both want to be playing regular first team football. Assuming registration comes through in time, both players will be in the Dunfermline squad that will travel to play East Fife on Saturday.
