Wallace hoping to net second place
Saturday, 25th Jan 2014"We'll head up to Brechin with our heads held high and hopefully we'll take our chances and get the three points."
Ryan Wallace confessed that the Pars team was pretty down after last week's home defeat to Airdrieonians:-. "If you look at the game we weren't great, and the week before against Stranraer we didn't play very well either but we managed to scrape the result.
"We kept the ball but even at that we didn't keep it in the right areas. We made mistakes and it's obviously cost us the game, but now we're looking to bounce back and get a result away from home. It's something we've been pretty good at doing this season.
"That's one thing we can always say, we've always bounced back after a defeat. We'll head up to Brechin with our heads held high and hopefully we'll take our chances and get the three points."
Ryan scoring for Dunfermline v Brechin City
Harping back to the first match there in September, the 23 year old striker said:-
"Over the 90 minutes I think 1-1 was a fair result up there but I think in the first half we should have had three or four goals.
"Robert Thomson, who I think is away to Brechin, missed a couple of chances as well so at the end of the day we could have finished the game off in the first 20 or 30 minutes and it wouldn't have had to be 1-1.
"But at the end of the day Brechin are not a bad team and they do what they do well up there.
It's a tight pitch and they work their socks off and try to stop us playing, so I'm sure they'll do that on Saturday. I'm sure they'll make it tough."Dunfermline sit second in League One but trail the league leaders by 20 points. Looking behind them Stranraer are third, eight points behind with two home games in hand and then Ayr United in fourth but nine points behind having played 21 matches - the same number as the Pars. Ryan feels that the Pars need to consolidate in second place, a place they have held since mid November.
"If we don't get second place then it's a bit of tragedy for ourselves to be honest with you" added Ryan. "We know we've been points in front and we've thrown it away. But overall we're probably the second best team in the league behind Rangers who have spent millions of pounds on their team, so if you look around about we probably play the most stylish football as well.
"We try to get the ball down and play and we score goals, so second place is our aim and that's where we aim to be at the end of the season; second place and in the play-offs to try and get this club back to where it belongs - in the Championship if not higher."
