Dunfermline Athletic

A new Page for Pars

Friday, 24th Jan 2014

"I know the team has been doing really well. I certainly wouldn't expect to walk into a team that has been doing so well.

The Pars latest signing gave his first interview to the website after signing until the end of this season. Twenty three year old Jonathan Page started by explaining how he ended up at Dunfermline-

"My agent has been in talks with the manager and I was able to agree my release from Morton to sign today.

"I started this season at Morton, the season previous I was at Motherwell and Hamilton. This is my sixth season up here and four and a half years were at Motherwell."

JONATHAN PAGE

The 6'1" defender was a youth player at Portsmouth and Southampton before being spotted in the Premier League exit trials:-

"I was brought up here by Bobby Jenks, the Motherwell chief scout and I have been up here ever since. I loved my time at Motherwell and I was disappointed to have to leave when I chose to leave but I had spent too long being a squad player and only playing bit parts in games. I was coming off the bench and playing cup games but I wanted to play first team football. So I joined Hamilton initially on loan and then permanently after Christmas."

Pars fans may recall Jonathan playing against Dunfermline last season - twice at home and twice away. He certainly remembers the games and coming up against some of his now Dunfermline team mates and as a defender he has vivid memories of playing against Ryan Wallace. Friday was his first day training with Dunfermline so the younger players were all new faces to him.

JONATHAN PAGE

"I'm sure I will get to know them all in the next few weeks. My first impression is that they are a young squad, and that's a good thing. They seem good fun but I've not been here long enough to say any more."

Jonathan has not played since being injured in November and then falling victim to the changeover in management at Morton from Allan Moore to Kenny Shiels. He continued:-

"When I was coming back it was during the transition, the new manager had just arrived." Although fit again, Jonathan did not feature in the last two Morton games. Allan Moore had been Jonathan's boss during his on loan spell at Stirling Albion and it was him that took him from Hamilton to Morton.

"I enjoyed my time with Morton although we were disappointed with our form in the league. You cannot work out why that was when you have a good manager and good players."

JONATHAN PAGE

The Pars new boy described himself an all rounder, strong in the air and reasonably quick. He will be with Dunfermline until the end of this season and hopes to impress enough to secure a contract for the future:-

"That is not my focus. Right now my focus is to get things right and get things going well from the start. I am not naive, I know the team has been doing really well. I certainly wouldn't expect to walk into a team that has been doing so well. I will stick in at the training, get fitter and try and impress the manager. I am looking forward to this, very much so."
