Paddy On the Boyle
Saturday, 31st Dec 2011" I don't think they are invincible. Celtic's recent form would suggest otherwise but they are not going to go a whole season winning every single game, it will just not happen.
Every game is a tough game for Dunfermline but facing the league leaders as they are on a high after beating Rangers and completing nine wins in a row is as tough as it gets. Paddy Boyle was a second half sub the first time the sides met but in Austin McCann's absence he can be up against an on form James Forrest. The Pars left back is in no doubt about the test he might be up against:-
"He has been absolutely flying. He has pace to die for, he is direct and every time he gets the ball you know that you are going to be in a one on one situation. It will be difficult of course but you have to give it your best shot."
When taking on Rangers at Ibrox recently Paddy came up against Sone Aluko but he felt he did his best. The 24 year old feels that he also put in a reasonable performance against the star product of the Celtic youth system, a player who has earned his first four Scotland caps this year.
"You know what he is going to do and you just have to try and match him. He is going to get at you so you need to give yourself an extra yard. He is a good player and against Rangers he managed to get past them at a breeze at times so it will be a difficult task."
Pressure is on Dunfermline to get that elusive first home win of the season and pressure is something that Celtic will bring with them to East End Park on Saturday as well. Paddy echoes the team's desire to change around their fortunes at some point soon:-
"We have been struggling but we were disappointed that the game was called off on Wednesday night. These are the types of games where you are hoping to go somewhere - get a draw or get a win and kick on from there. There is always pressure and when you are getting scrutinised you are very aware of that but it is up to us to respond to that.
"We have made poor defensive errors especially on Saturday (against St Johnstone). The game was even for thirty minutes and we just collapsed after the first goal to be honest. It was three terrible goals to concede and we must try and bounce back.
"At Parkhead the last time they dominated us for the first 45 minutes and could have ran away with the game but towards the end we could have nicked something. At Ibrox in the 89th minute big Alex Keddie put a header over the bar so you can nick something if you hang in there. I don't think they are invincible. Celtic's recent form would suggest otherwise but they are not going to go a whole season winning every single game, it will just not happen.
"Whether its Celtic or Rangers, every game that we lose is a game that has slipped away. We need to try and get something out of every game."
