The New Year fixture against Celtic is the 100th meeting of the clubs in the league and Celtic have a 73-14 lead on wins. Dunfermline would love to kick off 2012 with a home win and this is the last chance to avoid beating the 1991-92 season record first home win of the season on 11th January 1992 against Falkirk. It is a tough task since there have been just two Dunfermline wins out of twenty five Premier League home games against Celtic. The two victories took place in 1987 and 1989.

Although Dunfermline went behind early on in the first meeting this season, they withstood incessant Celtic pressure to restrict the Celts to a two goal lead at half time. Then after a Sung-Yong Ki penalty miss in 56 minutes, the visitors gave their opponents a fright with a Barrowman goal and a strong finish. Dunfermline have won only two of the last 20 league games between the sides.
