Pars need to plug away for points
Monday, 26th Dec 2011Alex Keddie:- "When things are going against you that it is harder to pick yourself up. It is just our job and nobody is going to do it for us;
Not many Pars players had an appetite to speak to the media after the 3-0 home defeat to St Johnstone but Alex Keddie braved the questions. He was down after the second disappointing result in a row:-
"It is not only the result but the performance. For the first half hour we were doing alright; equal measure on both sides but then they scored and it got worse from there really.
"Sometimes it is human nature that when things are going against you that it is harder to pick yourself up. It is just our job and nobody is going to do it for us; we just need to plug away and hopefully we will get that result."
Displays away to Celtic and then at Ibrox against the Scottish Champions had boosted the confidence going into the matches against Hearts and St Johnstone but to concede seven goals without reply is not what was desired:-
"We know what we are capable of but we are not doing it on a regular basis. We are doing it in fits and starts in most games but at this level you need to make sure that you are doing it for the full 90 minutes in every game. If you don't you end up in the position that we are in just now. Unfortunately it is not going the right way for us just now."
So Dunfermline found themselves bottom of the table at Christmas. They are equal on points with Hibs but have a far inferior goal difference. Alex felt that it is what Dunfermline do that is all important:-
"Hibs could go on a great run and we could go on a great run. Aberdeen until Saturday were on a half decent run and it took them up the table. You cannot look at anyone else to do you favours."
