Stop Gifting Goals - even at Christmas
Saturday, 24th Dec 2011John Potter:- "We need to work hard at stopping giving away goals and if we do that then at the other end I'm in no doubt that we can cause problems."
With the team failing to deliver an early Christmas present to fans with the St Johnstone defeat, defender John Potter is more than a little disappointed with the result because he feels the team started strongly. Speaking to the Dunfermline Media Centre he said:-
"I'm disappointed because there was nothing in this game for the first thirty minutes. It was very even until we made a mistake and then St Johnstone were the ones who moved on took something from the game.
"We're obviously disappointed with the manor of the goals we lost but we've got to move on. It's difficult for everybody at the moment - the players, the management and the fans - but we've got to stick together and we'll come through it.
"The Manager has made the point that in games like this the first goal is vital and unfortunately St Johnstone got it. They also got something from their chances and we didn't. We need to work hard at stopping giving away goals and if we do that then at the other end I'm in no doubt that we can cause problems."
John knows that the coming few days are important to the team's season. He added:-
"We've known for a while that this would be an important week. The St Johnstone game has to now be behind us and we've got to concentrate on Motherwell and then Celtic.. As players we're all hurting because we know that apart from one or two of the squad, the rest of us aren't doing well enough. It's up to us to change that through hard work and determination."
