Pars take capital punishment
Monday, 19th Dec 2011"We got off to a bad start, which we need to look at - individually and collectively as a team.
Everybody has heard of Hearts off the field problems and Martin Hardie was hoping that would drive the determination required for Dunfermline to record their first league win at Tynecastle since February 1990:-
"Before the game our criteria was to try and get an early goal, to try and get the fans against them. We got off to a bad start, which we need to look at - individually and collectively as a team.
"That went against us when they got their tails up. Once they went a goal up and then scored a second - the fans were behind them.
"From then on they had the majority of possession and play but we expect that because we have come here before. We had to keep trying to create as many chances as we can."
Hearts showed mettle in their previous match at Parkhead and on Saturday Martin felt that Dunfermline did nothing to dent that:-
"Hearts put in a good performance at Celtic Park but we gave them a helping hand by the likes of myself giving away the ball. It was Templeton who scored then but we gave them goalscoring chances throughout the game."
Martin felt that his side contained a lot of players who had never played league football at Tynecastle before and that suggested that for Dunfermline to leave with any modicum of success was going to be hard.
"We made it easier for them and a wee bit of showboating from them showed that their tails were up. When that's happening against you it is not very nice. We have to learn that when we come to away grounds such as Tynecastle because we are going to Fir Park soon as well, we have to be resolute, stick together and make it as tight as we possibly can.
"I hold my hand up for the third goal.I was disappointed with myself in that because at that point in the game we were coming into the game and creating chances. That bit of fighting touch in the final third was lacking.I would love to see something come off somebody's back side and go in.It seems to be happening at the other end.
"We must stop conceding goals by defending properly from the front, midfield and the back. It is not just the back four and the goalkeeper."
