Saturday, 31st May 2014Four more hopefuls signed up on full time contracts
Paul Joseph Crossan, Cammy McClair, James Thomas and Jordan Orru
Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of four youth players on two year full time contracts. The club's youth system has proven to be a great source of new talent with the likes of Ryan Williamson, Lewis Martin, Lewis Spence, Finn Graham and Scott Mercer all making first team appearances during season 2013-2014. The latest to commit to the club are defender Jordan Orru, midfielder Cammy McClair and strikers PJ Crossan and James Thomas.
Stephen Wright described the new signings and their promise:-
"They have shown a lot of promise in the last few years and have real potential. Jordan Orru has been here longer than others, he has been here since he was eleven years old. Cammy McClair came in a bit later, so did James Thomas and PJ came in at under fourteens. They have shown great commitment and have enthusiasm for playing for Dunfermline. Now the next step is going on to being full time.
"It gets tougher and tougher as they get older but I have no doubt that they will come in and do well. They are good kids who have worked really hard to get here. They have all been introduced to under twenties football and some have been involved in the first team environment.
"On a Thursday they have all been involved in the day release programme so they all know how it works and know how the coaches and the manager operate. That will give them a head start but the hard work starts on 30th June."
The young lads will be in two days before the first team return for pre season training. Kit will be arranged and jobs allocated.
"They are all fit lads, we do the same testing at youth team level that the first team. The intensity will increase in pre season training and the volume of work will be tough for them but I am sure that they will do well."
All four of the young hopefuls are looking forward to the new challenge. They feel that has been great experience coming through the ranks and getting involved at Dunfermline. All hope to feature more in the coming season and their sound bites were as follows:-
"When I first signed I was speechless and excited to go home and tell everyone. I just didn't know what to do with myself!" Cammy McClair (17) |
.. | "I am absolutely delighted about it and happy to kick on since I have been in the 20s a few times last season." Jordan Orru (16) |
"It is fantastic, just superb. Hopefully I can have a great future at the club." Paul Joseph Crossan (15) |
