Morris seeks positive frame of mind
Sunday, 6th Apr 2014"We are not picking up the results that we want to pick up but that is just the ups and downs of a season.
Against Airdrieonians on Saturday, Callum Morris felt that Dunfermline did not really create the kind of chances that have brought them success in previous games:-
"A really strong point of ours all season has been creating chances and scoring goals but of late we have not really been as clinical as we can be.
"Obviously we are still in that second spot and the good thing is that there are positives to be taken out of the game, we just need to get back on that winning run.
"The play offs are the big games and the rest of the season doesn't matter once you get there.
"We are down with the result but not too down with the performance. We go into next week hoping for another three points that could let us definitely focus on the play offs.
"Confidence has not been knocked too much but at the start of the season we were winning most games. Now we have gone on a bit of a poor run. We are not picking up the results that we want to pick up but that is just the ups and downs of a season.
"The main thing is that we get on a good run and into a positive frame of mind for the run up to the play offs and the play offs themselves. We will do that because we have enough characters in the changing room to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and be ready for next week and three points hopefully."
Results elsewhere meant that Ayr United can no longer overtake Dunfermline and so the Pars must finish at least third. Callum reiterated the much clich?d line that Dunfermline just need to look after themselves.
The Airdrieonians defeat disappointed Jim Jefferies team and Callum continued:-
"We know that we are good enough to go to places like this and get the three points, we just haven't been doing that little one per cent that it takes to get the win. We will work on that because we know we have that in the squad. We just need to get a couple of good results now in the run in and focus on the play offs."
Callum conceded the free kick that enabled Keighan Parker to shoot the hosts into a first half lead, he commented:-
"We could feel aggrieved, but that is by the by now and part and parcel of football - you are going to get results going your way and against you. It probably was a foul when I tripped the guy, but that's football. To be fair he put it in off the post; it was a decent free kick."
Not such a smart goal was the second Airdrieonians goal that came towards the end of the first minute of time added on at the end of the match. Callum was well placed to descibe the incident:-
"I think Scully has tried to pass it to Page and just kicked it off my shin. It took a bounce in front of the striker and he put in it. Scully is a good enough keeper, he knows that he has made a mistake but the good thing was that it was right at the end of the game.
"It didn't change the result, he just needs to make sure that he picks himself up. To be fair he has been the most consistent player we have had this season but it is just one of those things. He could have smashed it up the pitch but he has tried to smash it off my shin instead. It is no big deal, he will be back for Saturday his same self pulling off saves no doubt. That is nothing to worry about."
